Gardening Return on Investment

A super-helpful snapshot and tool for us when talking with clients is this - a Return on Investment Infographic.

Above, you are seeing the result of some creative internet searching coupled with years of pruning and taste-testing. Perhaps this isn't the most exciting visual aid ever created, but this resonates with me because of my background in Finance. In the military, I was regularly tasked with tracking supplies and parts for vehicles for which we needed some sort of value. We always needed to offset what the replacement cost would be versus the 'cost' of shelf space while bouncing this off estimated delivery of this specific part.

This may seem confusing-that is because I am having difficulty explaining it!

However, as I progressed and then separated from the military I completed a dual-bachelor degree in Business Administration and Person Financial Management. One of the most intriguing areas was that of investments. Investing for college, retirement, family vacations-all of these cost time. Time is the one commodity that always got overlooked because I was focused on APR, initial investment, and seasonal/annual fluctuation in Stocks and Bond Markets.

Fortunately for us gardeners, we have a incredible opportunity to truly let nature and time work for us. I was (and still am) amazed at how much my fruit trees grow every year and how many berries by Honeyberry bushes put on. This explosion of growth seems to happen even while I'm not looking and I wanted a way to capture that in an easily understandable way.

So, I am glad to be able to share this infographic in a blog so that others may realize a real investment opportunity. An investment that can make you money - ROI - but also one that can save you money at the store while being incredibly delicious!
